The UK and Cuba signed a Political Dialogue and Cooperation accord at the Cuban Foreign Ministry on Wednesday. The document offers a framework for collaboration and further development of bilateral relations, economic, social and cultural ties.
Anayansi Rodriguez, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) and David Rutley, Member of Parliament and FCDO Minister for the Americas and Caribbean, signed the agreement.
After the signing, Rutley held a meeting with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. The two officials addressed the state of bilateral relations and cooperation links.
Rodriguez expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued support of Cuba’s resolution against the US embargo at the United Nations.
The British delegation also held talks with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo and Inalvis Bonachea, Director of Trade Policy for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment.
The UK Ambassador to Cuba, Sir George Hollingbery, and Anne Aichroth, of the Embassy in Havana, accompanied Rutley on his visit to the Island.
Rodolfo Benítez Verson, Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law, Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Director for Europe and Canada, and others from MINREX, participated in the meetings.
