Quashing all the misinformation on the internet, the fakenews, and from the mouths of the so-called “experts” panels, should be the news of Cuba’s FITUR 2018 award for excellence in tourism safety.  The Island has just collected the prize at the 38th edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair 2018 (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain.  FITUR 2018 runs from January 17 to January 21.

This major international trade fair attracts over 9,900 exhibiting companies from 165 countries and regions, is attended by more than 135,858 trade participants and 107,213 visitors from the general public drop by each year. Some 7,452 journalists are also in attendance and some of these should be able to get the final word out, on travel safety in Cuba.

FITUR is a prestigious international event held each year.  The trade fair awards a variety of prizes to travel exhibitors from Spain and overseas countries.  The prizes are based on professionalism, promotion, communication, and design.

Is Cuba a safe destination?  Last year’s tourism statistics of four million international visitors to Cuba cannot be wrong.  FITUR’s award for excellence in tourism safety should finally end the lingering question, once and for all.
