Cuba to Host ALADI EXPO 2023

Cuba has signed a Letter of Commitment with the head of ALADI to host the next ALADI EXPO, which will run from October 2-4.

The Secretary General of ALADI, Sergio Abreu Bonilla, was in Cuba on an official visit. While there, he met with representatives from several organizations. In addition, he visited the PABEXPO Convention Center and fairgrounds, the Centers for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Molecular Immunology, the Ministry of Communications, and the Chamber of Commerce.

ALADI, established in 1980 and based in Uruguay, is the largest Latin American integration group. Its mission is to build and strengthen trade between member countries, enhance business growth, and increase participation in regional markets.

ALADI membership comprises 13 nations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Nicaragua will soon join.

Regional integration of markets and activities assist developing countries in achieving economic growth. Removing the barriers that impede the flow of goods, services, and capital promotes development. Improved market access and technology contribute to the successful integration of these economies into global trade.

Many companies from Latin America and the Caribbean will attend the largest trade promotion event in the region. In addition, buyers from non-member nations will be present.

The Regular Session of the Committee of Representatives of ALADI chose Cuba to host this year’s event.

This is the first live ALADI Expo since the 2020 pandemic shutdowns. During the closures, it held events online.
