Cuban Minister will head delegation to the US

Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, will lead a delegation to the United States from February 15 to 18. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINCEX) , the Central Bank, the Chamber of Commerce and executives of Cuban business entities will make up the working group led by Mr. Malmierca.

While in the United States, Mr. Malmierca will meet with his American counterpart, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. This will be the second meeting of officials from both countries.  Discussions of the  scope of the regulations of the embargo against Cuba and its impact on bilateral economic and commercial relations are on the table.

Pritzker stated that the meeting “is another opportunity to work directly with our Cuban counterparts to better understand the way our two governments and economies can work together in support of the Cuban people.”

The meetings will include the US Chamber of Commerce, representatives of business and  representatives of the political and academic sectors of the U.S.

Mr. Malmierca will also pay an official visit to Terry McAuliffe, Governor of Virginia, the largest state exporter of agricultural and forestry products to Cuba.
