The Fifth UN Conference on Least Developed Countries takes place during a critical time when developing countries face unprecedented economic development challenges. The ongoing global pandemic and the international economic order continue to perpetuate inequalities and poverty in developing nations.

“Transformative measures are vital for developing nations to overcome the growing financial gap, increasing debt distress, technology barriers, climate change, unilateral coercive measures, food insecurity, and the negative consequences of arbitrary and unjustified trade-restrictive measures that affect the wellbeing of present and future generations.” (Source)

The G77 and China have expressed support for the benefit of the countries of the Global South it represents.
