FIHAV Havana 2015

This year’s FIHAV 2015 Havana International Fair is to have the largest attendance in its history since its inception in 1983.  Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, told a press conference that approximately 900 companies from some 70 countries will be attending the event at the PabExpo Cuba exhibition complex.  Pavilion and exhibition setup begins on October 21 at the ExpoCuba complex.  FIHAV Havana 2015 is the most important international trade fair in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Last year’s FIHAV 2014 some 46 countries participated with the involvement of some 1000 companies.  Spain, Panama, Brazil, the UAE, Kuwait and Canada are some of the countries with exhibitions in the Pavilions at the ExpoCuba complex.  The UAE and Kuwait are in attendance for the first time.  Canada has held a presence at FIHAV for the last 18 years.  Participation in FIHAV is a prerequisite if a company is interested in doing business in Cuba.

Mr Malmierca said that FIHAV Havana 2015 will be promoting products that make up Cuba’s export portfolio – including technical and professional services.  Opening ceremonies take place at the Plaza de las Banderas, Expocuba at 11:00 on November 2nd.  On November 3, a portfolio of business opportunities will be presented to attendees.  FIHAV is designed to promote international trade and business opportunities for both Cuban and foreign companies.

Orlando Hernandez, president of the Chamber of Commerce in Havana stated that 365 Cuban companies will also be exhibiting at the trade fair.
