HostelCuba kicked off its first trade fair event on May 17 (running until May 19) in Havana, Cuba. HostelCuba is the first of a series of trade fairs organized by the Fira de Barcelona group. It’s currently taking place in the Pabexpo exhibition fairgrounds. More than 50 international exhibitors from Spain, Italy, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Panama are present. With government representatives from the tourism and hospitality industry, and importers and exporters in attendance, the goal is to strengthen ties between Cuba’s tourism industry and international suppliers.
Fira de Barcelona and Grupo Empresarial Palco, the Cuban government partner, have worked together to bring about this international restaurant, hotel and equipment exhibition in the PabExpo Fairgrounds.
Fira de Barcelona is a Spanish corporation that organizes international conferences and events in other countries such as Qatar, Japan, Mexico, Portugal and Morocco. The company also provides consultancy services. They are the first foreign trade fair company to establish themselves in Cuba. Fira de Barcelona is a leading trade fair organizer in Spain and Europe staging over 120 trade shows, congresses and corporate events globally.
The HostelCuba trade show focuses on equipment and services to the hospitality and tourism sector. Also on the agenda, a series of business meetings have been scheduled to facilitate contact between local trade professionals, government buyers and foreign companies. This networking opportunity is for exhibitors seeking to establish themselves as new suppliers to the Cuban market. Over 200 meetings with 118 buyers have been organized.
This event is the first in a series of exhibition/trade fairs organized by Fira de Barcelona. Further upcoming trade fairs include Feria Alimentos Cuba in July (an international food and beverages event), Securtec Cuba (a international security and emergency services trade fair) in September, and PACGRAF Cuba (a packaging and graphic arts trade fair) in February of 2017.
