India’s MGM Muthu Hotels Plan to Expand in Cuba

MGM Muthu Hotels, an Indian hotels and resorts chain, is another international hotel corporation firmly committed to continuing its hotel expansion plans in Cuba.

General Director Rafael Lopez told a special press conference at the Muthu Playa Varadero that the company believes Cuba is “one of the best tourist attractions in the Caribbean and the company is not worried about the Helms Burton regulations.”

The press conference was held to present the hotel services and amenities available at the Muthu Playa Varadero and feature its ideal beach location. The four star category resort promises to deliver five star quality service to its guests.

Antonio Ramos Benítez, the General Director of the Muthu Playa Varadero resort told the press the company is not going to stop in their efforts to promote Cuba as a prime Caribbean destination to their other markets in Europe and Asia. Cuba offers, he added, a country which is “intense in flavors, history, in addition to sun and beach.”

Muthu brings to Cuba its Indian culinary culture and traditions and will be the ideal resort location to book such spectacular events as the traditional Indian wedding where the average guest list often exceed 500 people and lasts for a full three days of celebrations. This is one of the features that will distinguish MGM Muthu in Cuba.

The hotel chain currently operates four resorts in Cuba including the Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo, the Gran Muthu Imperial, the Muthu Playa Varadero and the Gran Muthu Rainbow Hotel at Playa Playuelas, near Cayo Guillermo. Overseas, MGM Muthu owns hotels in the Algarve, Malaga, Almeria, Tenerife, United Kingdom, India, Singapore and France.

The brand intends to establish its presence in the Caribbean and MGM Muthu chose Cuba as the ideal location. The company is currently in negotiations with the Gaviota and Gran Caribe groups to build more hotels on the Island. Muthu also wants to offer properties in the two leading tourist destinations, Havana and Holguin.

MGM Muthu is the only Indian hotel brand in Cuba to date.
