New Recycling Company Opens at ZED Mariel

The recycling company Reciclaje Mariel S.A. has been incorporated in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM). It is a Cuban company, belonging to the Grupo Empresarial de Reciclaje (GER), founded with 100% Cuban capital.

The company recovers, processes, and commercializes scrap and recyclable waste from industry, commerce, and the community. The company does not recycle or process hazardous or radioactive waste.

Julio Antonio Sardiña Bueno, director of Quality and Communication at GER, told Cuban media that the company will commercialize the recycled products for the domestic and export markets.

He also stated that Reciclaje Mariel was founded with the need to promote effective circular economy strategies in current context while opening the door to the participation of foreign capital in the recycling sector.
