Portuguese Vila Galé Group Announces Expansion into Cuba

The Portuguese hotel company Vila Galé Group announced its expansion into Cuba as part of its international growth strategy.

Vila Galé will manage two facilities on the island. One hotel will be located in Havana and the other on one of Cuba’s coastal keys.

The Vila Galé Group, founded in 1986 by Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, José Silvestre Lavrador and José Ruivo is the second largest hotel company in Portugal, and one of the leading hotel groups in the world. 

Vila Galé Group comprises several associations, the most important being the Vila Galé Sociedade de Empreendimentos Turísticos, S.A. (Association of Tourism Enterprises). It manages the development and construction of new ventures. The company’s 37 hotels are in Portugal and Brazil, with over 8,400 rooms. Vila Galé Group adds to its portfolio with the expansion into Cuba.

Gonçalo Rebelo de Almeida, executive president of Vila Galé, announced the plan to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the company. He will soon visit to Cuba for the inauguration of the new hotels.

A Cuban delegation from the Ministry of Tourism, travel service providers, and hotel groups recently took part in the Lisbon Tourism Exchange BTL 2023.
