Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone call on April 13 to discuss joint efforts to combat the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
The foreign ministers held a detailed exchange of views on the necessary tasks to promoting a strategic partnership between Moscow and Havana, including greater joint efforts to fight COVID-19.
Most importantly, the two diplomats emphasized the need to lift unilateral sanctions that run counter to the norms of international law amid the global threat. They also reaffirmed their intention to coordinate efforts at the United Nations on the subject and other issues on the multilateral agenda.
Also discussed in the telephone call between the two ministers were issues of specific to bilateral cooperation, including the preparations for events dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations.
