Samsung announces they will open a store in Havana later this year.
South Korean industry giant Samsung Electronic announced at the FIHAV 2016 they will open up a shop in Havana by the end of this year. The planned location of the Samsung store is 3rd Avenue and 70th Street in Miramar in the western part of Havana.
Samsung is partnering with the Cuban corporation TRD. Samsung cellphones and flat screen televisions are already popular products in Cuba. The televisions are liked by Cuban customers because of the availability of multiports offered in the Samsung TVs.
At last week’s Feria International (FIHAV) Gilberto Ramirez, Samsung’s Latin America division marketing manager told the press that Samsung is looking forward to the prospect of opening up the store in Miramar. He did not indicate if the prices of Samsung products would now be lower in the new store than the prices currently offered in the ETECSA stores. The ETECSA prices currently range from 110 to 155 CUC for 5.1 android system phones and more for the recent models found in private shops.
Samsung’s press release announced that the Samsung corporation is interested in venturing into emerging markets to promote growth by way of new technology and product design.
