A new company, Grupo BM Interinvest Technologies Mariel, SLU, has been established in the Port of Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM). The Spanish company has the authorization to operate for a period of 40 years.
Grupo BM Interinvest Technologies will build and operate a platform equipped with offices and warehouses for industrial and service use and other related services.
BM Interinvest Technologies Mariel SLU Group is a company with its head office in Madrid, Spain and is a division of the Group BM Interinvest Technologies SL. The company has been present in Cuba since 1992 with a primary focus on agriculture.
The general director of the ZEDM, Ana Teresa Igarza Martínez, said there are currently 46 entities from 20 nations, of which 22 were already operating.
The ZEDM is located 45 km west of Havana. It opened in 2014. The 465.4 square kilometer development zone has the largest deepwater port of the region with the ability to provide large ships with ample space and water depth. More importantly, ZEDM is a major component for the economic development of the country.
