The 12th Biennial Havana 2015 opened up on Friday, May 22 and will run through to June 22, 2015.
The art world heads to Havana every two years. This year, the Americans are coming. The international press has been reporting on the surge in fascination with all things Cuban as the American artists and art collectors descend upon the city for Havana’s Biennial art exhibition.
Both Cuban and international artists (some 40 artists from other countries) will exhibit at this international cultural event which floods the city with art buyers, dealers, and collectors. They have come to experience the latest of the powerful Cuban art scene. Biennial Havana was established in 1984 and since then has become one of the most important art events in the world.
This Havana Biennial is special because it is timely for Americans who are finally able to travel somewhat freely to Cuba. Americans have a strong interest interest in Cuban art making this an exciting time for U.S. – Cuba relations. It is a historic moment for Cuban – American relations. There are several joint artistic productions between American and Cuban artists.
