Update to the Travel Rules for Cuba

There has been an update to the travel rules for Cuba. As of June 20, all tourists entering Cuba through Varadero or Cayo Coco will be required to present a confirmed hotel or isolation package before boarding their flight.

Travelers can book isolation packages online through Cuban travel agencies or purchased from tour operators overseas. These must be bought before departure.

For residents of Cuba who arrive through Havana or Santiago de Cuba, the travel rules announced June 5 are still in effect. Two PCRs are required in Cuba before completing the isolation, one upon arrival and another five days after isolation.

The current international sanitary control protocols remain in effect.

A Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) press release states the stay will be in tourist facilities, and the cost of the isolation package in foreign currency.

The package consists of the reservation at one of the hotels designed for the quarantine period in those locations. The costs include transportation from the airport to the accommodation for Cuban citizens residing in Cuba or abroad.

A confirmed booking of an isolation package must be presented at check-in to the airline at the departure airport.
