Vietnam and Cuba have agreed to strengthen ties in the biotechnology sector. Cuba’s Finlay Vaccines Institute and Vietnam’s Vabiotech reached an agreement on November 24 to strengthen links.
Vabiotech’s delegations, headed by director Nguyen Anh Tuan, met with the Finlay Institute, where they discussed collaboration and future projects.
The Finlay Institute updated the Vietnamese team on the work of the institution, according to their tweet on the social network X.
“In the meeting between the Finlay Institute and Vabiotech, the desire to continue expanding collaboration between both biotechnology institutions was expressed,” in a post on X.
In other advancements between Vietnam and Cuba, the company Duc Minh Medical JSC (Almedic) also signed vaccine distribution and development contracts with the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) and the Center of Molecular Immunology (CIM).
Almedic has also cooperated with Da Lat Pasteur Vaccine Company Limited (DAVAC) to lead Cuban vaccine production in Vietnam.
Almedic has sent many Vietnamese technicians and managers to Cuba’s biological centers and laboratories for short-term training. In turn, the company has invited Cuban experts to Vietnam for technical training for vaccine production facilities and quality monitoring agencies in Vietnam.
