Vietnam is set to start producing Cuba’s COVID-19 Abdala vaccine. The transfer of technology for manufacturing will begin immediately and extend through to the end of 2021, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
On August 23, the Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez spoke by telephone.
Díaz-Canel expressed the willingness to supply the vaccine and to send experts to assist with production.
According to the news report, the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, asked to increase cooperation in clinical trials, speed up licensing, supply, and the transfer of the Abdala vaccine production technology.
Cuba and Vietnam agreed to continue collaboration in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vietnam recently donated 12,000 tons of rice to Cuba. The two nations have long shared positive relations in trade.
