Following the official visits to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, Cuba’s Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, arrived in China. He will be in the country until October 26.
Vice Premier Cabrisas will co-chair the 30th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic, trade and financial relations. The Intergovernmental Commission session will strengthen existing ties between the two countries.
Cuba and China will review issues of mutual interests, including scientific-technical matters and bilateral cooperation. It will also advance the implementation of the agreements reached during the State visit of President Miguel Díaz-Canel to China in November 2022, renewed by both presidents at meetings at the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg in August 2023.
Cabrisas’ agenda includes meetings with senior government and Communist Party officials and executives of the business sector.
During his first day of meetings, Cabrisas will visit the Biotech Pharmaceutical Limited (PBL), a joint venture with Cuba , which has obtained significant results with the pancreatic cancer drug Nimotuzumab.
Cabrisas will also attend meetings with members of the Cuban mission in China.
Cuba and China have held close ties of friendship and cooperation over the last 63 years. The long-term relationship is founded on dialogue, political trust, cooperation in all spheres and a strong solidarity and respect between the governments and peoples of both countries.
