The 39th edition of Cuba’s international tourism fair, FitCuba 2019, will be held in Havana during the 500th anniversary celebrations of the city, with Spain as the guest of honor. FitCuba will begin on May 6 and run until May 11, 2019.
The tourism fair was recently announced by the Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero. This year’s FitCuba is dedicated to Spain, a nation which shares more than five centuries of history with the Island.
FitCuba 2019 will take place at the Fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña on the shores of the City. Attendees will get the chance to enjoy a variety of celebrations for the 500th anniversary of Havana. Tourism professionals will benefit from both commercial and promotional exchange.
“Events and Incentives,” will be the focus of this year’s FitCuba and the promotion of tourism products surrounding Cuba’s annual events. Some of the most well known include the International Habanos Cigar Festival, the International Gibara Film Festival, the Havana International Film Festival and the Fiesta del Fuego in Santiago de Cuba.
Last year’s FitCuba hosted more 3,000 participants from 52 nations and was very well-attended by representatives from Spain, Canada, the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom. FitCuba 2018 was dedicated to the promotion of “Sun and Beach.”
Each FitCuba event results in newly signed contracts and agreements for the administration and commercialization of hotels and the development of non-hotel tourism products.
Cuba and the foreign investors in the tourism industry continue to renovate older hotels and resorts and construct new hotels to satisfy the increasing number of tourists.
Cuba’s number of international visitors to the Island continues to climb. The number of tourists stood at 4,7500,000 last year.
