La Unión Cuba-Petróleo (CUPET) is hosting the second Cuba Energy, Oil and Gas Conference at the Melia Cohiba in Havana from December 4-7, 2018.

Hosted by Cuba’s largest oil company, La Unión Cuba-Petróleo (CUPET) – the 2nd Cuba Energy, Oil and Gas Conference will return to the Melia Cohiba in Havana from 4-7 December 2018, hosting all of the international IOCs, operators, service providers and companies throughout Cuba’s energy value chain over four days of strategic and technical networking and business development.

The event will discuss and debate the future of oil and gas exploration and production in Cuba, providing an exclusive in-depth insight into the opportunities and the priorities for domestic and international investors and suppliers. It will also examine the regulatory and fiscal framework to provide participants with a detailed understanding of how to work in Cuba and to make the most of the opportunities presented.

Last year’s inaugural edition took place to much acclaim, welcoming over 260 attendees from more than 75 national and international companies. The programme featured over 45 oil and gas leaders and experts in their field from senior CUPET representatives and H.E. Potential in Cuba

With Cuba’s estimated seven billion barrels of oil in place and highly prospective yet underdeveloped fields – through this year’s conference, CUPET will continue with its drive to boost the oil and gas sector that is so crucial to the country. The unique investment opportunities in Cuba are presented throughout its rapidly developing vibrant energy, oil and gas sectors and this will lead the agenda for the 2018 conference.

Cuba Offshore Data Presentation

On day one, as part of a special workshop, CUPET alongside BGP Marine will present an insight into the very latest information and an analysis following the results of the extensive BGP Marine 2D multi-client survey offshore Cuba. The data is the result of 18 months of extensive work over 27,000 km of 2D long-offset, high resolution, broadband seismic and gravity data. The survey specifically targets the Cuba Economic Zone of the Gulf of Mexico areas and has been designed to acquire data that will be fundamental in assisting the interpretation of the geology in the offshore Cuba, and the identification of prospective structural and stratigraphic trends that can be used for regional evaluation and future detailed seismic survey designs.

Across a two-day programme, delivered by over 40 senior level speakers, the Cuba Energy 2018 strategic conference will discuss and deliberate the following areas:

  • Cuba’s role in the context of the Caribbean
  • An International Perspective of Working in Cuba
  • Cuba’s midstream and LNG opportunities
  • Cuba Downstream
  • Advanced oil and gas production technologies
  • Focus on HSE

Exclusive to Cuba Energy for 2018, CUPET will also launch a formal bid round exclusive to Cuba Energy for available offshore blocks in the Cuban Economic Exclusive Zone.

This will be interlinked with an exclusive networking programme, where throughout the event, an emphasis will be placed on interaction between all participants, with time factored into the programme for networking breaks and a series of social events. Participants can again take advantage of the conference’s Business Matching service that allows them to prearrange networking opportunities with other attendees ahead of the event through an easy-to-use platform. The service was introduced in the 2017 conference and proved hugely popular and effective.
