Cuba is again one of the top travel destinations for 2024. As at October 31, international visitors to Cuba continues to increase, as airlines ramp up their flights and vacation packages.
Canadian airlines including Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, Hola Sun/Caribe Sol, and Sunwing are adding new vacation packages and flights.
Cuba remains a “tried and true favorite among Canadian travelers and will continue to be more popular in 2024,” said Sunwing Vacations Group’s Media Director, Melanie Anne Filipp.
Sunwing has added two more destinations for the 2023-2024 winter season: Cienfuegos on the southern coast, and Manzanillo on the northeastern coast.
Sunwing now offers multi-destination vacation packages that combine a beach package in Varadero and a city stay in Havana.
Another Canadian airline, Air Transat, added twice-weekly new flights from Montreal to Havana.
Cubana Airlines has also announced the availability of domestic flights to the eastern provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Holguin, making it easier to get around the island.
In 2023, Cuba won first place in TripAdvisors Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best 2023. This award considers the quality and number of individual reviews of accommodations, restaurants, and beaches. Among the most popular destinations are Havana, Trinidad, and the Valley of the Sugar Mills in Sancti Spíritus.
For the best beaches in the world, Varadero won a 9th place in the Travelers’ Choice for Best Beaches.
According to TripAdvisor’s statement, “U.S. citizens still need to jump through a few rings to visit Cuba, but as visitors from all over the world know, this island offers some incredible opportunities for cultural exchange.”
Is Cuba a safe travel destination? Indeed, it is. In 2018, Cuba won FITUR’s Prize for Excellence in Tourism Safety. Today, Cuba, not only ranks as a top travel destination but is one of the safest travel destinations worldwide.
For the 2023-24 season, 21 Canadian airports serve Cuba, with over 200 flights per week or 5,000 flights for the season, representing a growth rate of 12 percent.
