A Cuban delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, have concluded a working visit to Saudi Arabia.
The official visit by the Cubans ended on October 9.
The Minister of Tourism, Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment, and Carlos M. Pereira, Cuba’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied Cabrisas.
Faisal bin Mohammed Al-Kahtani, Executive Vice President of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), greeted the delegation upon their arrival in Riyadh.
The agenda included meetings with the ministers of Commerce, Investment, and Environment, the executives of SDF and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), and the Chamber of Commerce.
While at the SFD, the delegation met with the CEO, Sultan Al-Marshad. Discussions covered SFD development projects in Cuba. Cabrisas expressed gratitude for the ongoing cooperation, which has benefited the lives of the Cuban people.
While at the SDF, the ministers viewed an exhibition featuring the Fund’s sustainable projects in developing countries.
Discussions relating to humanitarian assistance took place at the KS Relief Center.
The Saudis praised Cuba’s leadership at the G-77 and China Summit, held in Havana. Likewise, Cabrisas thanked the Saudis for continued support at the UN General Assembly Resolution to end the US embargo against Cuba.
Cabrisas’ visit resulted in meetings that reflected the positive state of the bilateral relationship. They also highlighted the prospects in economic and financial areas, agriculture, water resources, tourism, and the environment. There was the agreement to strengthen relations in commercial cooperation.
The two countries committed to continue boosting bilateral ties. Saudi Arabia and Cuba have shared uninterrupted diplomatic relations since June 1956.
