FIAGROP, Cuba’s Agro-industrial livestock fair, takes place each year at the Rancho Boyeros Exhibition in Havana. This year’s agriculture and livestock event will be held from March 19 to March 25. Already booked to participate, 226 exhibitors from 18 countries will show up at this year’s event.
Nations with the largest number of participants are Spain, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Holland, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Guatemala, Costa Rica, United States and New Zealand.
Ignacio Caraballo Barreto, Director of the event, told a press conference in Havana that the number of participants was up this year compared to the previous year and did not rule out the possibility of more representatives.
He also said there will also be a presentation on new foreign investment opportunities in the agricultural and animal sector.
Cuban participation at FIAGROP includes 125 producers and farmers in cattle, reforestation and agricultural and tobacco productions who will make presentations.
Presentations will also cover the quality and production of meat, good practices for the organization of a herd, treatment of pig residues,the use of renewable energy and available agricultural resources in Cuba, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Caraballo added that the FIAGROP event is the best place to network for agriculture experts to increase experiences and knowledge in higher quality food production which can meet the the demand of the population and tourism industry.
The event’s exhibits include various farm animals species, agricultural equipment and supplies, products, veterinary products and agricultural technology.
FIAGROP’s highlight though is the national and international rodeo championship shows with the participation of cowboys and guajiros from the provinces of Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila and Sancti Spiritus, as well as ranch men from Colombia, the US, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
Each year, the FIAGROP fair promotes new possibilities for commercialization, investments, promoting the culture of cattle farming and breeding, agriculture and international rodeo as a sport of cowboys and fans alike.
