One of Japan´s largest commercial companies, the Mitsubishi Corp, is exploring new business opportunities in Cuba. A division of Mitsubishi already exports coffee beans from the island and is looking at importing non-traditional seafood, rum, honey and honey products.

Mitsubishi had been in Cuba since the early 1950s. Its offices today are located in one of the Miramar Business Center buildings.

The Cuban ambassador in Japan Miguel Ángel Ramírez Ramos met with Yamasaki Junichiro, Deputy General Manager of the Business Department of Mitsubishi Corporation.

In their meeting, they discussed business opportunities, the digitalization of Cuban society and Cuba’s successful handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In February, MC Agri Alliance, a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Olam International Limited, a food and agribusiness company, visited the Cumanayagua Coffee Processing Plant and three high yield coffee growing farms in Cienfuegos.
