Vuong Dinh Hue, Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman, is on an official visit to Cuba. He is there at the same time of the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s visit to Vietnam and the anniversary of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with Vietnam.
Invited by Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of Cuba, Chairman Vuong, he will be in Havana until April 23.
Raúl Castro and President Diaz-Canel received Chairman Vuong.
The entourage will meet with other Cuban officials, including Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.
He and his entourage will attend several economic, cultural, and educational activities. Chairman Vuong visited the Fidel Castro Ruz Centre and honored the Bay of Pigs victory against the US invasion. They also met with staff at the Embassy, representatives from the Vietnam-Cuba business forum and the Vietnamese community.
Both legislatures maintain close ties. In March 2022, they held a virtual meeting with Esteban Lazo in March 2022.
Vietnam and Cuba have long shared historical relations. The Vietnamese visit aims to build on cooperation and the bilateral partnership between the two nations.
In November 2022, Homero Acosta, Secretary of the National Assembly, and visited Hanoi and met with Chairman Vuong.
Chairman Vuong’s visit takes place just after the general elections of the 10th National Assembly of Cuba.
After his working visit to Havana, Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will depart for Argentina and Uruguay.
