Yesterday saw the opening of Cuba’s International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2025) in Havana. The event, featuring the best of Cuban tourism, takes place in the city’s historical El Morro fort. This year’s invited guest of honor is China.
FITCuba will run from April 30 until May 3.
A large audience and the international press attended the opening of FitCuba. Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, Rao Quen, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, and the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos Garcia gave opening day speeches.
In the afternoon, the Business Forum took place at the Meliá Cohiba Hotel.
Havana’s Karl Marx Theater hosted the Cuba-China Cultural Gala, showcasing a blend of two cultures in music, dance and traditions.
FitCuba 2025 Events:
Spain’s Meliá Cuba announced the addition of the Gran Hotel Bristol in Old Havana to begin operations under the Melia Collection Brand. Meliá also highlighted its the comprehensive renovation of the iconic Hotel Jagua in the seaside town of Cienfuegos.
May 1 offers presentations from companies on various tourism offerings and specialties.
Also announced on the first day was the launch of new flight connections between Cubana de Aviacion and Germany.
On May 2, Servicios Medicos Cubanos’ President, Dr. Yamila de Armas Aguila, will present Cuba’s health tourism products and services.
MGM Muthu Hotels’ Commercial Director Alejandro de la Garza will present a “Perfect Blend of Experiences and Cultures.”
Banca Electronica Director General, Xiomara Méndez del Toro and Director Zunilda Rodríguez Rosa offer insight into Bandec’s new “Tropical Card.”
Other presentations feature a variety of topics, from the art of cigar rolling, camping in Cuba, sustainable tourism, nature (eco) tourism, the launch of Varadero’s Josone 2025 Festival and EGREM’s cultural events for the year.
The afternoon finishes with a gastronomy and cocktail competition chaired by the Ministry of Tourism.
On May 3, FitCuba finishes up ceremonies with a day of fun, sun, music and food in the Morro-Cabana complex.
